Alison is from Watertown, South Dakota and the oldest of five children. After graduating from Watertown High School, she attended Southwest Minnesota State University where she obtained Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science, Philosophy, and Justice Administration. She attended the University of South Dakota School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate in May of 2019. Alison has a passion for helping others. After law school, Alison focused her practice of law to giving people a voice to who may not otherwise have one.
Alison needs to be busy and she often finds that relief through work. Her experience prior to joining Turbak Law Office, P.C. was primarily in the criminal field. First, she worked as a public defender in Sioux Falls, helping make sure those who were charged with crimes were provided their constitutional right to an attorney. Then, after becoming weary from commuting daily to Sioux Falls, she took a job in Watertown with the Codington County State’s Attorney’s office. There, she was tasked with handling hundreds of cases at a time and simultaneously prosecuting most of the most heinous crimes that occur in Codington County. During her relatively short tenure, she handled thousands of files and became known locally for successfully trying jury trials of the most serious matters including obtaining convictions for the State of South Dakota of child pornographers, rapists, and stalkers.
Since joining Turbak Law Office, P.C., Alison has worked on a variety of complex insurance and injury-related matters, attempting to help individuals harmed at no fault of their own recover proceeds from insurance companies. She has a constant desire to be back in the courtroom and a vigor for the fair and reasonable application of the law. When she’s not in the office, Alison can be found spending time with her friends and family. She is often cheering for her children at the soccer fields around South Dakota and in neighboring states.
